The Problem
People know they should care about carbon emissions but have no idea what their actual footprint looks like. Corporate sustainability programs feel vague and removed from daily choices. There's no connection between what you do and what it costs the planet.
The Approach
Built a mobile app that automatically tracks commute patterns using GPS and transport mode detection. Each trip calculates real CO2 output and converts reductions into a points system. Added challenges, leaderboards, and team competitions so people hold each other to it. Partnered with local businesses to offer rewards for accumulated points.
The Outcome
Thousands of active users tracking daily commutes. Average user reduced commute emissions by 12% within three months. The reward system drove 4x higher retention than comparable sustainability apps.
